What the app is

A measuring instrument for fish hooks, which works by converting the four corners of a reference object of known dimensions into millimetres. It is intended for anglers who want to know what they are holding.

On accuracy, and this is the important paragraph

The result depends on how carefully you place the points and how flat the photo was taken. In practice two measurements of the same hook land within a tenth of a millimetre of each other, but that is an observed figure and not a guarantee. Hooked is not a calibrated instrument and must not be used where a calibrated measurement is required.

The sizes in the brand tables are largely read off publicly published charts and catalogue images. They are explicitly marked indicative in the app as long as the brand itself has supplied nothing. Do not make a purchasing decision on an indicative figure without checking it with the manufacturer.

Purchases

Measuring is free and stays free. Hooked Pro is a one-off purchase of 4.99 euro (or the equivalent in your currency) made through the App Store or Google Play. Those stores handle payment, invoicing and any refunds under their own terms; we cannot reverse a purchase ourselves. Restoring an earlier purchase is done with the restore button on the purchase screen.

There is no subscription. What you buy stays yours, including when the app gains features later.

What you may do with the app

Everything it is meant for, privately and professionally. What you may not do: reverse-engineer, clone or resell the app, or extract the brand tables wholesale in order to offer them elsewhere as your own dataset. Sharing a measurement or making an export for your own use is of course fine.

Contributing to the tables

If you contribute a measurement you give us permission to process it anonymously into the averages and display it. You retain ownership of nothing unusual — it is a number — and no name is attached.

Trade marks

Mustad, Gamakatsu, Owner, VMC, Kamasan, Drennan, Korda, Eagle Claw, Daiichi, Tiemco, Partridge of Redditch and every other name mentioned in the app belong to their respective owners. They are used here solely to refer to their products in the context of a comparison. There is no affiliation with, endorsement by or sponsorship from those brands unless expressly stated.

Liability

The app is supplied as it is. We are not liable for damage arising from its use, and certainly not for a wrongly bought box of hooks. Mandatory provisions of Belgian consumer law continue to apply in full; nothing here limits your statutory rights.

Governing law

Belgian law. Disputes belong before the competent courts of the judicial district of East Flanders, Dendermonde division, unless the law mandatorily designates another court.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top says when that last happened; material changes are announced in the app.
